Love and inheritance: four generations of people stick together

Wang Houjie's family of four generations have deep feelings for the mainland. His great-grandfather was sent to the mainland when he was young, and returned to Taiwan after completing his studies. He always missed the mainland; his grandfather was born in Nanjing, and his wish was to return to the mainland.

Chung-Hwa Pharmaceuticals, founded by Wang Houjie's family, is one of the three largest pharmaceutical companies in Taiwan. In 1993, it established a joint venture with Suzhou Second Pharmaceutical Factory to establish "Suzhou Chung-Hwa" Pharmaceuticals. This is also the first pharmaceutical company in Suzhou invested by Taiwanese capital in the mainland. To date, it has a 30-year development history. The efforts of his fathers laid a solid foundation for Wang Houjie's future career. Today, he has become the youngest director of Suzhou Chung-Hwa Pharmaceuticals, determined to become "the most trusted health product company in the Chinese world", continuing his father's career and dream.

No matter how tall a tree is, its leaves will return to its roots. The wishes of the great-grandfather and grandfather, the practice of the father, and the inheritance of the son, behind the four generations of the family's relay and struggle, there is a strong sense of homesickness and deep attachment to "home". This kind of hometown sentiment is continuing here in Wang Houjie.

Returning from studying abroad: No matter how far you go, you must go home

When Wang Houjie was 17 years old, he went to study in the United States. Many people thought that he would not come back after finishing his studies in the United States. But Wang Houjie said: "In fact, I am very determined. I will definitely come back. Because my great-grandfather, my grandfather, and my father, although they all left here for various reasons, they all made great efforts to come back, so I will come back no matter how far I go." He has always believed that his parents stayed in the mainland to start businesses and live, and he also has the responsibility to bring back the advanced knowledge and concepts he has learned abroad over the years.

As a young successor born in the 1990s, Wang Houjie also encountered setbacks and challenges when he first joined the company in 2016. Because he did not have a deep understanding of the market demand at the time, the customized health care product project planned by Wang Houjie soon failed. But he did not give up, but insisted on conveying the concepts of "prevention" and "maintenance". With the strengthening of mainland consumers' awareness of "big health" and the increasing demand for health and fitness, Wang Houjie seized the opportunity and restarted the project by taking advantage of the rapid development of e-commerce, and achieved remarkable results. "I want to promote really good things to the mainland", this has always been the source of motivation for Wang Houjie.

Fall in love with Suzhou: The mainland is developing rapidly

When Wang Houjie first came to the mainland, after repeated comparisons and considerations, his grandfather built a factory in Suzhou High-tech Zone, and the factory gate at that time was directly opposite the current Shishan Grand Theater. Wang Houjie said: "The development of the company later proved that the choice at that time was right. I am especially grateful for the help and support given to us by the High-tech Zone over the years."

At the beginning of the factory construction, Wang Houjie and his family came to live in Suzhou. "When our parents set up the factory, this place was dusty and full of construction sites. But now, around this theater, there are tall buildings, neon lights, shopping malls and subways. It is really a tremendous change." Thirty years later, Wang Houjie has personally experienced the rapid changes in Suzhou. He has long regarded this place as his "home" and fell in love with this place. At the opening ceremony of the Cultural Month, Wang Houjie encouraged young Taiwanese to go to various places in the mainland and take a look. He believes that they will fall in love with this land like himself.

The thin thread is like the native land, and the wanderer is like a kite. As time goes by, the kite string between Wang Houjie's family and the mainland has never been broken. In the future, this precious friendship will become broader and deeper through the communication and integration of young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
